Ride on the Royal Gorge Railroad (11/08/08)

The photos in this album were taken on a trip to Canon City to ride the Royal Gorge railroad on November 8, 2008.  Due to the fact that most photos show the train, the river, people and/or canyon walls, a description is not provided for every photo.  Thanks to Reg for her contributions to the album!

Soon after departure from Canon City heading west

Approaching the canyon with the Arkansas River flowing our way

The walls are closing in on us

Our first view of the bridge

Telephoto shot of the bridge's north pylon

Arial tram on its way to the south rim

The world's highest suspension bridge

Looking up 1,053 feet to the bridge

Bald Eagle on patrol over the canyon

Another shot of the eagle

Some people are having too much fun!

Approaching western end of our trip near hiway 50

A calmer section of the river before it enters the canyon

Fresh trout for dinner (maybe)

Heading east into the canyon

Approaching the bridge from the west side

Stopped for a break at the foot of the incline raiload

Overhead structure supporting track at the narrowest point in canyon

A chilly breeze makes a jacket feel good

A final shot of the bridge on the way back to Canon City

At this point, the sun feels pretty good
